Projections, forecasts and models can provide essential information to enhance understanding of trends, assess future needs and assess the effects of policy and other changes. They have a valuable role to play in local economic assessments and informing local area agreements. To get the best from these tools it is important to understand the different approaches and methods, their strengths and limitations.
Rachel Moreton is now on twelve months secondment to Department for Communities and Local Government as Senior Research Officer. Rachel is working on the Neighbourhood Intelligence Team supporting local information systems, working with RIEPs and other regional bodies to help develop local analytical capacity. From December 8th, the role of IEM Coordinator is being filled by Hazel Mitchell.
