This evidence base published by emda presents a wide range of statistics and information on the demography, economy, labour market, social conditions, infrastructure and environment of rural areas in the East Midlands.
The role of rural areas in the regional economy has led to the production of this evidence base tailored to rural areas. The Rural Evidence Base complements and mirrors the format of the Regional Economic Strategy (RES) Evidence Base.
As well as providing an analysis of key characteristics and trends in rural areas of the region, the report acts as a source of baseline data that has informed the setting of targets and the planning of activities outlined in the East Midlands’ Rural Action Plan (RAP).
In addition to reporting the current state of rural areas in the East Midlands, the Rural Evidence Base seeks to draw out both the contrasts and the interrelationships between rural and urban areas.
