Incapacity Benefit and Severe Disability Allowance in the East Midlands PDF Print E-mail

This is the first briefing produced for IEM by the Nottinghamshire Research Observatory. The paper provides information in Incapacity Benefit (IB) and Severe Disability Allowance (SDA) claimants for county and unitary authorities in the East Midlands, and for other regions in Great Britain.

Although the number of claimants in Great Britain has remained fairly constant between 1997 and 2005, there has been a marginal increase in the East Midlands. There has also been a change from 1997 to 2005 in the nature of the conditions that claimants experience, with a substantial increase in mental and behavioural disorders.

You can read both the briefing paper and the full report here.
