Census 2001 PDF Print E-mail

The 2001 census was held on 29 April 2001.  The census is a count of all people and households in the UK.  Census data gives a snapshot picture of the country at this time and provides essential statistical information for planning and funding public services and supporting businesses.  Information is available from the national level down to neighbourhoods.  The Office for National Statistics (ONS) plans and carries out the census in England and Wales.  The next one is planned for 2011 and preparations are currently underway for this.  Click here to find out more from the ONS website.
